The Piano Technology School is excited to launch an introductory course in Piano Restoration Techniques, launching in March 2026.

Who is this for? This program would be perfect for professional piano tuners & technicians who want to enhance and expand their skill set to offer an, on-the-road restoration service to their customers. Learn how to give a new lease of life to cherished family uprights and heirloom instruments.

This training is also open to those who are looking to start a career in the trade. Inexperienced applicants will be invited for aptitude tests & an interview. Places will be offered based on suitability.

What will it cover? Designed with professional tuners in mind, learn practical introductory techniques that can be done in the customer’s home, where there is space; or in the workshop. To include : Upright action rebuild, including hammer hanging Damper replacement and damper renewal. Re-pinning and Re-stringing.

How Many spaces are available? At the moment places are limited to 3.

Will I have to miss out on work to do the training? We know keeping your tuning work flowing in important, which is why we are working to limit the impact on your buisness. We are currently looking at a combination of a days that includes weekends. You should expect to have a minimum of 2 days at a time. As numbers are limited, we hope to be able to arrange a mixed timetable to accommodate.
